Get lost and Founds again in the revamp of harmonious music and discover the hypnotic Brisbane sextet, Founds. A band that started out as a duo between Alex and Kirstie, making eclectic and intimate music, soon transformed, as not only the size of the band grew, but as did the sound, flourishing from the expansion. 2011 has been an incredible year for these Brisbane locals, playing at The Big Day Out and supporting The Naked and Famous, Ben Ottewell (Gomez), Owl Eyes, Oh Mercy, Gossling, as well as a series of packed local and interstate artists. A raw energy glistens from their live performances in the vein of Mogwai, Sigur Rós and Björk.
The journey so far has been amazing for this indie-pop band, sourcing musical influences from the assorted sounds of nature, to quotes from books, and the visual delights of images and film.
Kirstie from the band outlines that “the music we write takes on a whole new level when we are together, as we all listen to different types of music it seems to form something special to us”.
Founds have recorded an E.P., set to sooth ear-drums nationwide, but are yet to release the E.P. as there are a few sneaky plans underway which they “can not reveal yet”.
There are also ideas brewing and plans being made for a music video, so keep you’re eyes peeled. Founds definitely need to be experienced live and are playing this Thursday in Brisbane’s newest club, Oh Hello. Oh Hello is inspired by the lifestyle and culture of a New York warehouse, combining art, fashion and extensive mixes of music to create an energetic new generation of Brisbane clubs. What better way to showcase new generation artists, such as Founds (supporting John Steel Singers) than at Oh Hello.
Check them out at Oh Hello’s Cobra Kai night, this Thursday the 22nd of September for a melodic performance.
